The Position

MA Healthcare (part of Mark Allen) is the leading independent publisher of high-quality journals for healthcare professionals. We produce some of the most prestigious titles in the industry, including the Journal of Wound Care (JWC), British Journal of Nursing (BJN) and British Journal of Hospital Medicine (BJHM). Alongside our publishing business we run events, digital communications and medical education.

We are looking for an energetic, results-driven, savvy marketer to join our Events and Projects teams. As Marketing Executive, you will ultimately report to the Managing Director of Mark Allen Healthcare and will be responsible for producing and executing marketing plans for a number of events and projects (conferences, webinars, podcasts, supplements, consensus documents, etc.). As the role is spread across various departments each will assign tasks. Mentorship and training will be provided by team leaders. The needs of each department being transferable and audiences similar. This is a rapidly-growing are of our business, so there will be plenty of opportunities to demonstrate and apply your skills.

Involvement in events/projects can vary, so you will need to be highly organised, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills. You will need to work smartly and quickly.

Roles and Responsibilities


  • Generating processes to improve online delegate registrations, views and engagement
  • Working closely with the Events team to produce compelling copy for all channels and campaigns, ensuring each event is marketed to a high standard and on time
  • Working closely with the Projects team to schedule and implement bespoke e-shots and adverts, improving visibility of webinars, podcasts, supplements, consensus documents, etc.
  • Writing copy and narrative
  • Developing data lists
  • Looking after social media pages for all journals and events
  • Liaising with associations, so that their members can access our content, and source new associations and groups to link with based on our audiences
  • Reporting on stats (e-shot performance, PPC campaigns, etc.)
  • Create robust and effective content-led, multi-channel, 6-month marketing plans for each event
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns for events on time and on budget across email, digital, social, PR, direct mail, editorial coverage, print and online advertising
  • Ensure projects are promoted on time, taking ownership of any issues that may delay them
  • Work with our in-house designers to create effective and appropriate design concepts for ads, emails and websites
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure key objectives and initiatives are aligned, with clear lines of communications and providing the right level of support and direction
  • Analyse activity throughout and after all campaigns to measure, optimise and report on performance
  • Keep up with the latest trends and developments, to maintain excellence in digital media and future technology market understanding
  • Familiarity with adwords and SMS would be a bonus


  1. Clear and engaging written communication. Copywriting, editing and proofreading experience would be beneficial.

  3. Understanding of stakeholder responsibility and how to communicate with different types of people
  4. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  5. Organisation and time management with an ability to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines
  6. Independent proactive problem-solving and logical thinking
  7. Technologically and commercially aware
  8. Experience of html and email marketing including use of an ESP. (Adestra experience desirable)
  9. PPC marketing experience, both Adwords and through social media
  10. Experience with graphic design software (Photoshop or similar)
  11. Knowledge of website analytical tools such as Google or Adobe Analytics an advantage.
  12. Experience with digital survey tools such as Survey Gizmo or Survey Monkey

This role will be based at home for the foreseeable future, until it is safe to return to our offices.

The head office itself is in a converted church, backing onto one of South London’s gems, Brockwell Park. We’re nicely situated between Herne Hill and Brixton stations, with plenty of bus routes servicing the surrounding areas.
