The Mark Allen Group’s only weekly newspaper has recently celebrated its 300th edition. SecEd, a weekly newspaper that is delivered to every UK secondary school, launched back in 2003 and publishes every week during term time – about 35 to 40 editions a year.
SecEd is aimed at teachers and school leaders and publishes a mix of news, features, opinion, with regular focuses on ICT, CPD, leadership among others.
In its short time, SecEd has proved itself to be a credible rival to the century-old Times Educational Supplement and has built a strong reputation for supporting the profession.
The SecEd brand has also led to the creation of a number of spin-offs over the years, including information supplements, awards, and even a new journal and conference series – Delivering Diplomas – which while no longer going, proved incredibly popular and profitable.
Editor Pete Henshaw said: “I am proud of the reputation SecEd has within the profession for being a strong voice supporting teachers and challenging government.”
Special mention should also be made of team members Dave Taylor and Matt Govett, both of whom have worked on the title since its inception.
