The July issue of Pro-Shop boasted no less a personage than G-Mac, also known as Graeme McDowell, 2010 US Open champion and member of the victorious European Ryder Cup team.
G-Mac, as he is popularly known, is one of the golfing celebrities, along with Gary Player, Paul Casey and Paula Creamer, who are fronting a new golf format, PowerPlay Golf.
This is a short form of the game that has been hailed as the Twenty20 of golf and is designed to encourage more people to take up the game. Here is a quick guide to PPG: It comprises 9 holes Stableford.
Two flags per green (white and black) and the black flag is usually the harder of the two pins to reach. Going for a PowerPlay means playing to the black flag and you must nominate a PowerPlay before your tee shot.
Watch out for G-Mac and the game’s new format on Sky Sports.
