As part of the Mark Allen Group, Master Travel has access to a worldwide network of healthcare and educational connections which make our tours unique.

Every tour is limited to 20 participants, and is accompanied by a British tour leader and an experienced local guide, whose local knowledge and personal contacts open hidden doors to places and events far off the beaten track.

And we never forget the holiday element. All tours cover the cultural, scenic and wildlife spectacles of the region, whether it's walking the Great Wall of China or snorkelling with the sea lions in the Galapagos.

Nursing in China

The Nursing profession in China is at a fascinating stage of development – in fact, it was virtually non-existent until the arrival of Western missionaries in the late 19th century. Even now there is only one nurse per 1,000 citizens, although the profession is growing fast in numbers, job satisfaction and public esteem. Without a formalised primary care structure as we know it (although it is on the way) the place of the nurse is still very much in the hospitals, under a regime that is somewhat reminiscent of British nursing forty years ago.

A series of private professional visits will enable you to see at first hand the very different conditions and challenges that Chinese nurses face, and how their traditional therapies work side by side with modern-day Western medicine. They in turn will be just as interested in finding out from you how British nursing works, especially in new areas such as nurses prescribing.

The tour is also very much a holiday, exploring China’s great cities, awe-inspiring historical sites and uplifting landscapes. Equally memorably, you will enjoy many fascinating glimpses of a way of life vastly different from our own, far off the tourist trail.
